Postgame Notes vs. Michigan

  • With its 13-10 defeat, Ohio State’s record is 11-2 on the season and 8-2 in Big Ten play.
  • This was the 120th all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Wolverines
  • Head coach Ryan Day‘s career record is now 66-10.
  • This was the 24th consecutive game (including the vacated Ohio State win in 2010) where the winning team also won the rushing battle. The last time a team won the game but lost the rushing battle was a 38-26 Michigan victory Nov. 18, 2000. In that game, Ohio State had the advantage in rushing yards 149-88.
  • Will Howard finished the day completing 18 of 29 pass attempts for 174 yards and one touchdown.
  • Howard conducted the offense efficiently during the two-minute drill prior to halftime. He connected with Jeremiah Smith for a 10-yard touchdown pass, leading to a 10-10 tie.
  • He now has 75 passing touchdowns in his career.
  • Smith finished the day with 35 yards and one touchdown on five receptions.
  • Smith tied teammate TreVeyon Henderson with 11 career starts as a true freshman. Together they share the No. 7 spot on the all-time list.
  • Smith surpassed the 900-yard mark (934) and has 10 touchdowns this season.
  • His streak of catching at least one pass extended to 37 games.
  • Carnell Tate finished the day with a team-leading 58 yards receiving, bringing his season total to 847.
  • Caleb Downs led the team with 11 total tackles and came away with an interception.
  • It was the third interception of his career and the first as a Buckeye.
  • His four tackles pushed his career mark to 131.
