COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s basketball has a pair of games during The Game week with the first coming on Monday night as the Buckeyes host Green Bay in the second game of the Ohio State MTE. The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. and will be televised BTN. Kevin Kugler and Stephen Bardo will call the action.

The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.

  • This will be the second all-time meeting between the programs as the Buckeyes won 91-68 in the 2007-08 season opener on Nov. 12, 2007, in Columbus. David Lighty led the Buckeyes with 21 points in the win while Jamar Butler had a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists.
  • The Buckeyes are 36-1 all-time against teams currently in the Horizon League. They beat Youngstown State already in the home opener this season on Nov. 11.
  • The Buckeyes are coming off back-to-back runaway victories against Evansville and Campbell last week. They won those games by an average of 47 points while shooting over 50 percent in each game.
  • Ohio State leads the country in field goal defense, limiting opponents to just 31.5 percent and second in three-point field goal defense at 21.4 percent.
  • On the other end of the floor, the Buckeyes are 10th in the country in three-point percentage at 43.0 percent and are averaging more than 10 three-point makes per game.
  • John Mobley Jr. has played a large role in the shooting success as he’s sixth in the country at 59.3 percent from long range. He is also second in the Big Ten at 3.2 threes per game.
  • Junior point guard Bruce Thornton is second in the country with a 9-to-1 assist to turnover ratio. He has 18 assists and zero turnovers over the last three games and hasn’t turned the ball over since early in the second half against Youngstown State on Nov. 11. That’s 94:14 of court time for Thornton.
  • Thornton is also closing in on 1,000 career points and 300 career assists. He has 987 points and 287 assists in his 75 career games.
  • Devin Royal made his first collegiate start in the win over Campbell and is 14-of-18 shooting (.778 percent) over the last two games. He is also averaging 11.4 points and 10.0 rebounds in those games.
  • Green Bay went on the road and fell 98-81 at Evansville last Friday night. The Phoenix are 2-4 on the year under first year head coach Doug Gottlieb. They have wins over Western Illinois and SIUE and are led in scoring by Anthony Roy who is tops in the country at 28.0 ppg. He also leads the country at nearly five three-point makes per game.
