BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • CBJ have won five of their last six games at Nationwide Arena, following tonight’s 7-6 overtime win over the Lightning.
  • The club has won two-straight overall and three of the past four games dating back to November 15.
  • CBJ’s win tonight after trailing 3-0 11:52 into the game marks the seventh time in franchise history, third at home, that the Jackets won a game after trailing by three goals (MR: 7-6 OTW on 3/21/23 at WSH; MR at home: 5-4 OTW on 4/3/18 vs. DET).
  • The club recorded a season-high seven goals tonight.  It marks the sixth time this season the Blue Jackets have scored at least six goals in a game.
  • It also marks the sixth time that the Jackets scored in all three periods in regulation.
  • The Blue Jackets have scored 66 goals through the first 19 games of the 2024-25 season, the most through 19 games in club history.
  • Columbus has scored goals in 39-of-the-58 periods played in regulation this year with 20 multi-goal frames.  CBJ’s four goals scored in the second period tonight are the most scored in a single period this season.
  • The Blue Jackets and Lightning game is the fifth occurrence in the past decade to combine for 10 or more goals prior to the halfway point of regulation. (Chicago at Ottawa, 11 goals on Feb. 18, 2019; Calgary at Edmonton, 11 goals on March 26, 2022; Los Angeles at Seattle, 12 goals on Nov. 29, 2022; and Florida at Montreal, 13 goals on March 16, 2023).
  • Columbus scored another shorthanded goal tonight and has three in two consecutive games.  It marks the 14th time in franchise history the club has shorthanded goals in back-to-back games and first since Jan. 25-27, 2024.
  • Tonight’s attendance was 16,260.

 

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • The top line trio of LW Dmitri Voronkov (1-1-2), C Sean Monahan (1-3-4) and RW Kirill Marchenko (0-2-2) combined for eight points on the night.
  • Zach Werenski and C Sean Monahan finished with 2-3-5 and 1-3-4 tonight.  It’s the eighth time – and fifth time at home – that the club has had multiple players with four or more points in a game (MR: Josh Anderson & Werenski both posted 1-3-4 on Mar. 12, 2019 vs. Boston).
  • LW Yegor Chinakhov (6-7-13, 19 GP) has goals in consecutive games and four points in his last six outings (3-1-4).
  • Kent Johnson (4-3-7, 5 GP) scored twice tonight (2-0-2) with goals on the power play and while shorthanded in his first game back from injury.  He’s the 8th different player (10th instance) in CBJ history to record one of each in a game (MR: Jack Roslovic, Dec. 11, 2022).  Rick Nash and Tyler Wright accomplished the feat twice.
  • RW Kirill Marchenko (6-12-18, 19 GP) has five points in his last six games (1-4-5).  He has posted 5-3-8 in six career games against Tampa Bay with four points in his past two outings (2-2-4).
  • Sean Monahan (7-12-19, 19 GP) logged his first four-point game of the season (1-3-4) and eighth of his NHL career.  He now leads the club in goals, points (tied) and multi-point outings (6) this season.  The forward has posted multiple points in back-to-back games (1-5-6) and has registered eight points in his last four (1-7-8).  He has 8-7-15 in 18 career games against the Lightning, including points in five of his last six home games (3-5-8).
  • RW Mathieu Olivier (6-3-9, 19 GP) has tallied 2-1-3 in his last four games after assisting on Chinakhov’s goal.
  • Damon Severson (4-5-9, 19 GP) tallied his 300th NHL point on Monahan’s first period goal and has 71-229-300 in 733 career contests.
  • RW Cole Sillinger (3-8-11, 19 GP) posted two assists tonight (0-2-2) for his second multi-point game of the season.  He has registered points in consecutive games (0-3-3) and three of the last four contests (1-3-4).  He has four points in his past four against the Lightning (0-4-4).
  • LW Dmitri Voronkov (3-2-5, 10 GP) registered 1-1-2 tonight for his second multi-point game in the last four outings (1-1-2, 11/15 vs. PIT).  He has also posted 3-2-5 in his past four contests.
  • Zach Werenski (6-13-19, 19 GP) recorded 2-3-5, including the overtime winner, to set a franchise record for most points by a defenseman in a single game.  He has a team-leading 13 assists and tied for a team-high 19 points. The blueliner has collected assists in four-straight games (3-6-9).  He became the first defenseman in the NHL to register five points in a game this season.  He also passed David Vyborny (317) for fifth on the club’s all-time points list with his second assist/point tonight and now has recorded 96-225-321 in 505 career contests with CBJ.
