COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continues its homestand on Friday night when it hosts Campbell at 6 p.m. inside Value City Arena. The game will tipoff at 6 p.m. and will be televised BTN. Jack Kizer and Robbie Hummel will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
- This will be the second all-time meeting between the programs as the Buckeyes won 91-64 on Nov. 26, 2014, in Columbus. Five Buckeyes finished in double figures led by D’Angelo Russell’s 22 points and seven assists.
- The Buckeyes are 15-1 all-time against teams currently in the Colonial Athletic Conference. The last game was against Towson during on Dec. 8, 2021. The lone loss came on Feb. 16, 1985, when the Buckeyes fell 76-74 to Northeastern in the Meadowlands.
- The Buckeyes bounced back from their first loss of the season with an 80-30 thumping of Evansville on Monday night. Devin Royal led the way with his first career double-double, notching career-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds while going 7-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the line.
- Ohio State shot 70 percent in the second half, including making 12 of its final 13 shots down the stretch against Evansville. The Buckeyes held Evansville to under 20 percent shooting and the 30 points allowed were the fewest since a 59-22 win over Samford in 2008.
- The Buckeyes are averaging nearly 10 three-pointers per game through the first four games.
- Thanks to the defensive effort against Evansville, the Buckeyes lead the country in field goal defense, allowing opponents to shoot less than 30 percent from the floor. They are also fourth in three-point field goal defense at just 21.6 percent.
- Freshman John Mobley Jr. has scored in double-figures in all four games so far in his young career and has made at least one three-pointer in each game, totalling 11 on the year.
- Junior point guard Bruce Thornton is second in the Big Ten with a 6.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. He has had 11 assists and zero turnovers over the last two games, including a season-high seven in the win over Evansville.
- Thornton is closing in on 1,000 career points. He has 976 points in his 74 career games.
- Campbell is off to a 3-2 start to the season and is coming off a nice 86-66 win at Navy last Sunday. The Camels also played well at Virginia before falling 65-56 on Nov. 6. Jasin Sinani tops the team at 11.6 points per game. Campbell’s next two games are against Evansville and Green Bay.
