CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second time this season, sixth-year senior Matt Salopek has been named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
This past week Salopek had nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and a pass breakup in Miami’s 27-21 win at Ball State. Salopek and the Miami defense allowed one touchdown all evening and held the Cardinals to 51 yards rushing on 23 attempts.
The Kent, Ohio, native is 20 tackles shy of becoming the first player in program history to record at least 100 tackles in four straight years. His 472 career tackles rank seventh in school history.
