Women’s Basketball Buckeyes host Charlotte 49ers tonight and will honor military and first responders.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14/14 Ohio State women’s basketball team (1-0) hosts Charlotte (1-1) on Tuesday evening for the Our Honor Defend game, honoring military and first responders. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and AM1460. Parking remains free for all women’s basketball home games.

  • Ohio State opened its 2024-25 season with a 104-69 win over -/RV Cleveland State on Tuesday.
  • The Buckeye defense forced 24 Viking turnovers and recorded 16 steals, while the OSU offense shot 54 percent from the floor and 48 percent from three. Ohio State recorded 10 blocks for the first time since Feb. 29, 2020.
  • All 10 Ohio State players who saw the court had at least one basket, including the first collegiate points for freshmen Jaloni Cambridge, Elsa Lemmilä and Ava Watson and the first Buckeye points for transfers Chance Gray and Ajae Petty.
  • J. Cambridge scored the most points of any player in the Big Ten in the 2024-25 season debut as she opened her collegiate career with 31 points, six assists, six rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
  • Cotie McMahon (17) and Taylor Thierry (11) also scored in double figures.
  • Charlotte comes to Columbus with a 1-1 record after beating Presbyterian on Nov. 4 by a 77-63 in the season opener and falling to Wake Forest by a 60-41 margin on Thursday. This is the 49ers first road game of the season.
  • There are 12 players on Charlotte’s roster who have played in both games to start the season. Alexis Andrews leads the offense with 10.5 points per game, while Hayleigh Breland leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game.
  • Last season, Charlotte finished with a 16-15 overall record and was an even 9-9 in conference play. The 49ers fell in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championships by a 65-52 margin to Tulane.
  • Ohio State is 1-0 in the all-time series against Charlotte.
  • The only previous meeting between the two teams took place in Columbus on Dec. 19, 2011 when the Buckeyes claimed an 88-58 victory.
