Youngstown State Men’s Basketball News: Penguins Selected for Four Potential ESPN Wildcard Games

Indianapolis, Ind. — The Horizon League has released its 2024-25 #HLMBB television schedule, featuring six regular season games, including five League contests and one non-League battle, on ESPN linear networks.

A total of eight Horizon League matchups will air on ESPN linear networks including five during the regular season. Additionally, Oakland’s non-League contest against Michigan State at Little Caesars Arena will also air on ESPN2.

Youngstown State has been selected for four potential regular season-games on the ESPN linear networks.

All League regular season games during the 2024-25 season will be “wildcard” selections to ensure the best matchups possible. All 11 teams will begin the season with an opportunity to be featured on ESPN2/ESPNU during League play.

The Horizon League has streamed every League basketball game for an industry-best 18 consecutive seasons, making #MajorMoves in 2007 with the groundbreaking Horizon League Network.

Youngstown State is coming off its second straight 20-win season after going 22-10 in 2023-24. It marked the first time since 1963-64 and 1964-65 that the Penguins posted consecutive 20-win campaigns. YSU went 24-10 in 2022-23 and won the first regular-season conference championship in program history.

Ethan Faulkner is in his first season as Head Coach of the Youngstown State men’s basketball program after serving as the associate head coach for two years and three seasons as an assistant coach. During Faulkner’s time at YSU, the Penguins have won a total of 98 games.

Over the last three seasons, Youngstown State owns a Horizon League best 65 overall wins and a league-high 41 conference victories. The Penguins won 19 games in 2021-22, 24 during the 2022-23 season, and 22 in 2023-24. In league play, the Penguins won 12, 15 and 14 games, respectively.

ESPN
· Continuing a relationship that began with the 1988 Midwestern Collegiate Conference men’s basketball championship game, the entire Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship in Indianapolis will be televised on ESPN linear networks from the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

o The action begins on Monday, March 10 with the semifinals and culminates with the championship game on Tuesday, March 11 on either ESPN or ESPN2.

· ESPN+, the leading sports streaming service, continues to be the home for the League’s live streaming game content, a relationship that began during the 2014-15 season.
