Rice Award Goes To Top Freshman In FCS Football

STATS, LLC – University of Dayton redshirt freshman quarterback Drew VanVleet has been named a finalist for the 2024 STATS Perform Jerry Rice Award. The Rice Award honors the national freshman of the year in Division I FCS college football.
The QB from Richmond, Ind. has completed 104 of 157 passes (.662) for 1,229 yards, with 15 touchdowns against four interceptions. He leads the Pioneer Football League in passing efficiency (158.43) and passing TDs.
He is the top-ranked freshman in FCS football in passing efficiency (11th overall) and completion percentage (23rd overall) .
Earlier this season at Marist, he was 25 of 35 passing for 323 yards and a Dayton -freshman five touchdowns. Following that game, he was named the Stats Perform National FCS Freshman of the Week.
