New York Red Bulls Game Preview: Match 1 Round 1 at Columbus Crew

The New York Red Bulls head to Lower.com Field to face off against Columbus Crew on Tuesday, October 29 in Game 1 of Round One of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English, Spanish, FS1, TSN, RDS, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

 

Coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV begins at 6:45 p.m. ET. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Danny Higginbotham on the English side, while Alejandro Figueredo will have the play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Eduardo Biscayart on the Spanish side. New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6:15 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Toyota, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.

 

This will be the 90th overall meeting between New York and Columbus, with the Crew holding the advantage with a 40-35-14 mark, including a 26-13-7 mark in Columbus. This will be the fifth time the Red Bulls have faced off against Columbus in a playoff series. New York have posted an 0-5-0 mark against Columbus in playoff matches in Ohio, while posting a 2-0-1 mark against the Crew at home in the playoffs. New York have made it to their 15th consecutive playoff appearance, which is the longest streak in MLS history, and it is the longest active streak in North American men’s professional sports.

 

New York Captain Emil Forsberg will be making his first career playoff appearance, when the Red Bulls travel to Lower.com Field on October 29. Forsberg recorded his second-career MLS multi-goal match in New York’s last match of the season against the Columbus Crew. He has now recorded a goal contribution in three-straight matches, which includes five goal contributions with three goals and two assists. In 19 matches played this season, Forsberg finished the regular season with nine goals and five assists.

 

Following Tuesday’s match, the Red Bulls will host Columbus Crew on Sunday, November 3 for Game 2 of Round One of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
