  • Columbus improved to 17-13-3-1 at home all-time against Edmonton following the win.
  • CBJ have won five of the last six games overall in the series (5-1-0) and four-straight at Nationwide Arena.
  • Playing for the 68th time in the all-time series, the Blue Jackets earned their most lopsided victory over the Oilers (5), surpassing two previous wins by four goals (MR: Mar. 27, 2018 at Edmonton).
  • The Blue Jackets have scored a franchise-high 33 goals through the first eight games of the season, surpassing the franchise-high 25 scored in 2009-10, 2017-18 and 2022-23.  Columbus set a new club record for fewest games to 30 goals in a season, besting the previous nine games in 2009-10, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
  • CBJ scored the first goal of the game for the sixth time this season, including three-straight.
  • The club has 13 different goal scorers after Mikael Pyythia scored his first NHL goal tonight.
  • Columbus has recorded goals in 19-of-the-24 periods played this season and have recorded 11 multi-goal frames.  That includes three periods with three or more goals scored.
  • With six goals tonight, Columbus tied the season high for the most goals in a game (6-4 W on 10/12 at COL; 6-4 W on 10/17 vs. BUF; 6-2 W on 10/22 vs. TOR).
  • Tonight was also the fourth time CBJ scored in all three periods this season (Oct. 12th vs. COL; Oct. 17th vs. BUF; Oct. 22 vs. TOR).
  • The Blue Jackets scored six goals in back-to-back home games (6-2 W vs. TOR on Oct. 22) for the second time in franchise history (Apr. 6-16, 2024).
  • Tonight’s attendance was 15,237.

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets’ top line of LW Yegor Chinakhov, C Sean Monahan and RW Kirill Marchenko have contributed 28 points through the first eight games of the season (12-16-28) after combining for five points tonight (2-3-5).  Marchenko (0-2-2) and Monahan (2-0-2) both tallied multi-point nights.
  • RW Yegor Chinakhov added an assist tonight for his eighth point in eight games (3-5-8).
  • Adam Fantilli notched his first multi-point game of the season (1-1-2) and now has points in two-straight games (1-2-3). Fantilli (57 GP) became the fifth fastest player to record 15 goals in his CBJ career tonight (Kirill Marchenko, 36 GP; Dmitri Voronkov, 50 GP; Oliver Bjorkstrand, 53 GP; Justin Danforth, 56 GP).
  • RW Kirill Marchenko stretched his points streak to three consecutive (2-3-5) with two assists against the Oilers   The forward, with 4-7-11 in eight contests, becomes just the fifth different player in franchise history to record double-digit points in the first eight games of a season (Rick Nash, 2x; Ryan Johansen; Oliver Bjorkstrand; Scott Hartnell). He leads the club in goals, assists, points and multi-game efforts (4).
  • Sean Monahan scored his first multi-goal outing as a Blue Jacket, including his second power play goal of the season 2:18 into the game.  He is the second Blue Jacket to record two goals in a game this season (Olivier, 2 on Oct. 22nd vs. Toronto) and has five points in his last four games (3-2-5).  The forward has recorded goals in back-to-back outings against Edmonton (3-0-3).
  • LW Mathieu Olivier (4-2-6, 8 GP) recorded his third goal in the last three games, while also setting a new career high with a point in three-straight contests (3-1-4).
  • RW Cole Sillinger recorded 1-2-3 for his first multi-point game of the season and fourth three-point outing of his NHL career (MR: 3-0-3, Jan. 6, 2024 vs. MIN).
  • LW James van Riemsdyk collected his first assist as a Blue Jacket on Olivier’s second period goal.
  • Zach Werenski collected an assist and has points in three-straight games (1-3-4).  He collected his 95th career power play point, tying Cam Atkinson for the third-most in CBJ history (Rick Nash, 182; David Vyborny, 126).  The blueliner has collected points in four of his last five outings against the Oilers (0-4-4).
