CINCINNATI – Following his performance against Texas Tech last Saturday, Cincinnati redshirt sophomore quarterback Brendan Sorsby was placed on the national player of the week honorable mention list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award on Tuesday.
Sorsby was also an honorable mention honoree following his week one performance against Towson, and he was also named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
The Denton, Texas native completed 31 of 45 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday night in Lubbock, setting career highs in completions, attempts, yards and touchdown passes. He added 52 yards on the ground to lead UC in rushing, too. His 478 total yards are the most by a Big 12 player this season, the most by a Bearcat since 2015 and fifth-most in school history.
His 426-yard passing performance marked the highest total by a UC quarterback since 2015, as well, and the ninth-most in Cincinnati history. It’s also the most by a Big 12 quarterback against an FBS opponent this fall.
Sorsby has proven to be one of the conference’s top quarterbacks through five games in 2024, passing for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns with just one interception. He is completing 66.3% of his pass attempts and his 165.6 efficiency rating leads the Big 12. His QBR of 80.6 ranks third in the conference, as well.
