HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football’s 2024 Homecoming Game against App State will be a 3:30 p.m. kickoff and shown on ESPN+, the Sun Belt Conference and ESPN announced on Monday.

The Sun Belt Conference and ESPN announced the time and television considerations for the game as part of the 12-day window agreement between the Sun Belt and its television contract with ESPN.

One of Marshall Football’s more storied rivalries, the 2024 matchup will be special as the Thundering Herd’s Homecoming matchup will take place against the team picked in preseason to win the 2024 Sun Belt Conference’s East Division.

The Oct. 5 meeting between the teams will serve as the 27th all-time meeting between the schools with App State owning a 16-10 advantage in the all-time series.

The teams will meet for the fifth consecutive year – the third with both programs now as conference rivals in the Sun Belt Conference. It brings the rivalry full circle from its initial days when the teams were Southern Conference rivals.

Throughout the last four seasons, the home team has won each meeting, making the Oct. 5 matchup a must-see on the Herd calendar.

It is the second time in three years that App State has served as Marshall’s Homecoming opponent.
