BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football’s Keonta Jenkins will wear the No. 25 jersey on Friday night. The matchup against Miami will be Jenkins’ first time being selected to carry on Frank Beamer’s iconic legacy.

Jenkins’ nomination for the honor comes after a solid start to the season, as the veteran STAR has 15 tackles, one pass deflection and a tackle for loss. The Jacksonville, Florida native has been a staple in Tech’s defense, playing in 49 games and starting in 26 games over the past three seasons.

Over his career, Jenkins has amassed 132 tackles, with two forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks as a Hokie. Jenkins also executes in coverage with two interceptions and eight pass breakups. He will look to add to his career totals in another matchup against the Hurricanes after playing in the matchup in 2021.

Tech retired Frank Beamer’s No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech’s legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
