HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall’s Sept. 28 home matchup with Western Michigan will be a 3:30 p.m. kickoff from Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

The announcement came as part of the Sun Belt Conference’s 12-day window for television announcements and game-times in conjunction with ESPN.

The game, which will be seen on ESPN+, serves as Hall of Fame Weekend for Marshall Athletics, who will honor nine new inductees into the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame.

It also will feature a reunion of the 2014 Marshall Football team that won the Conference USA Championship.

The 2024 matchup between Marshall and Western Michigan also comes 25 years after the two teams met for the 1999 Mid-American Conference title in Huntington.

In that game, Marshall fell behind 23-0 before quarterback Chad Pennington led the team back, connecting with tight end Eric Pinkerton in the end zone with :04 left to give the Herd a 34-30 victory.

Marshall went on to finish out an undefeated 13-0 season by beating No. 25 BYU in the Motor City Bowl, ending the perfect season ranked No. 10 nationally – its highest in program history.
