» Boston College football begins a new era under first-year head coach Bill O’Brien, the 37th coach in program history, with a Labor Day night game at Florida State.
» The game will be broadcast on ESPN. BC alum Bob Wischusen (play-by-play) and Louis Riddick (analyst) are in the booth with Kris Budden (reporter) on the sideline.
» Coverage on the Boston College Sports Network begins 30 minutes prior to kickoff on WEEI 93.7 FM. Jon Meterparel (play-by-play) is joined on the call by former BC linebacker Pete Cronan in the booth and quarterback Scott Mutryn on the sideline.
» Through 125 seasons, Boston College is 73-50-2 all-time in season openers. The Eagles have lost back-to-back season openers and are 12-7 in season openers since joining the ACC in 2005.
» In season openers against ACC opponents, BC is 3-2, including 1-0 on the road with a 2020 win at Duke; the last time the Eagles opened the season against a conference foe.
» Boston College is 19-17 all-time in head coach debuts with wins in game one under each of the Eagles’ last four head coaches.
» Against the Seminoles, BC trails the all-time series, 5-16, and have lost five in a row. Since BC’s last win in the series, four of the last five games have been decided with seven points or less.
» The Eagles scored 19 unanswered and fell short, 31-29, to FSU at home a year ago.
» Boston College is 33-123-1 all-time against ranked opponents.
» BC last opened the season against a ranked opponent in 1995, a loss to No. 12 Ohio State at Giants Stadium. The Eagles’ last season-opening win vs. a ranked opponent was a 14-13 win over No. 7 Texas at home in 1976.
