INDYCAR Announces INDY NXT by Firestone Milwaukee Grid Penalty

INDIANAPOLIS (Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024) – INDYCAR officials have announced a repositioning penalty to the rear of the starting grid for the driver of the No. 76 Juncos Hollinger Racing entry, Ricardo Escotto, ahead of today’s INDY NXT by Firestone at the Milwaukee Mile race as a carryover from infractions during the Sunday, Aug. 25 race at Portland International Raceway.

The driver was in violation of:

Rule 9.3.3. Avoidable Contact – The primary responsibility for avoiding contact with a Competitor resides with the overtaking Competitor and the secondary responsibility resides with the Competitor(s) being overtaken. A Competitor who fails to demonstrate their responsibility and initiates a maneuver that results in contact with another Competitor may be penalized.

Rule 7.10.7. A speed limit not exceeding 35 mph at all tracks will be enforced within the Pit Lane areas defined by painted lines, cones and/or other visible markings.

The above penalties are considered a probation violation according to Rule 9.2.3.3.

According to Rule 9.2.2.5., the penalty is considered a Starting Lineup Repositioning and will be served at the series’ next event today, Aug. 31 at the Milwaukee Mile.
