The Boston Red Sox have two faces of the franchise on their team. One is no doubt 3B Rafael Devers and the other is OF Jarren Duran.

The 27-year-old is living up to the word All-Star, which is what he became in 2024 and had the game-winning homer in the game and was named MVP. His stats are outstanding, .291 average, 14 HR’s, 58 RBI and an OPS of .853. He seemingly can do no wrong. That was until an incident on Sunday.

The Red Sox took action against their popular young star on Monday,  with an unpaid two-game suspension due to the homophobic slur he directed towards a heckling fan during the Bosox’ 10-2 loss to the Astros on Sunday.

The suspension, according to Red Sox president/CEO Sam Kennedy, was made with MLB having a say as well and will started today, as the Red Sox open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park. As part of his punishment, Duran will be required to take part in a sensitivity training program.

Duran will not be paid during his two-game ban. His salary will be donated to the Greater PFLAG Boston, part of PFLAG National (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).  An organization that is dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people.
