Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is now a 2-time All-Star after being named the fan-elected National League starting second baseman.

• Marte gets his second career All-Star start and selection, having been the NL starting second baseman in 2019 in Cleveland.
  •  Was the No. 8 hitter in NL’s starting lineup and went 1-for-2 with a double…in his first at-bat, doubled to right field off the Twins’ José Berríos.
•  Marte joins Paul Goldschmidt as the only D-backs with multiple fan elections.
•  Marte was the leading vote-getter in Phase 1 Voting (1,853,424 votes) among second baseman to become a finalist, ahead of Luis Arraez/Padres (1,760,593 votes), and won the Phase 2 voting with 55 percent of the votes to Arraez’s 45 percent.
•  Marte leads all second basemen with a 4.4 bWAR, .517 SLG, .871 OPS, 38 extra-base hits, 50 RBI, 166 total bases and 11 defensive runs saved, is tied for first with 17 homers, second with 19 doubles, tied for second with a 1.4 dWAR and third with 92 hits.
•  Marte’s 4.4 bWAR is second in the NL to Shohei Ohtani/LAD (4.9) and seventh in the Majors.
•  Marte’s start marks the second straight season the D-backs have had at least 1 starter…last year, D-backs outfielder Corbin Carroll was a fan-elected starter and Zac Gallen was named the NL’s starting pitcher.
•  Marte’s fan-elected start is the D-backs’ eighth fan-elected start for a position player:
