COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State baseball player Jacob Bosiokovic has been called up by the St. Louis Cardinals, announced by the team on Sunday ahead of its series finale against the Cincinnati Reds.

Bosiokovic was drafted by the Colorado Rockies as a first baseman in 2016 (round 19, pick 560), and was converted to a pitcher in 2019. Bosiokovic was acquired by the Cardinals from the Rockies in the Triple-A portion of the 2019 Rule 5 Draft, playing for the organization from 2019-22. He was signed by the Cardinals again this season as a free agent after one season with the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League.

This year with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, Bosiokovic had a 3-0 record with a 3.00 ERA. He fanned 38 batters in 30.0 innings pitched and made 25 appearances on the mound, all in relief. In four seasons affiliated with the Cardinals, he has a 13-5 record, 11 saves, and a 4.06 ERA.

Bosiokovic is one of three Buckeyes currently active in the MLB, joining Dominic Canzone (Seattle Mariners) and former Ohio State teammate Ryan Feltner (Colorado Rockies).
