Minnesota Twins recall Austin Martin

Alex Kirilloff optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

 

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled utility player Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul.

Martin, 25, recently played in 17 games for the Saints from May 21-June 12, hitting .273 (15-for-55) with one double, one home run, eight RBI, 18 walks, a .449 on-base percentage and just five strikeouts. During that 17-game stretch he played three different positions defensively, appearing in centerfield (9 games), second base (3 games) and leftfield (3 games). Martin, who will be making his third stint with the Twins this season, played in 30 games for Minnesota earlier this season, hitting .224 (17-for-76) with seven doubles, one home run, six RBI, 19 runs scored and seven walks.

To make room for Martin on the club’s 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned first baseman/outfielder Alex Kirilloff to St. Paul. Kirilloff played in 57 games this season, hitting .201 (32-for-159) with eight doubles, three triples, five home runs, 20 RBI, 15 walks and 47 strikeouts.
