The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore is proud to announce the release of a Barry Larkin bobblehead in June that commemorates the Hall of Famer’s 30th home run of the 1996 season, a shot that made Larkin the first shortstop in major league history to join the exclusive 30 home run/30 stolen base club.

The reigning National League Most Valuable Player, Larkin had already reached the 30 stolen base plateau and had hit 29 home runs on the year when he came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning of the Reds game against the Cardinals at Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field on Sept. 22, 1996. Larkin made history when he blasted a pitch from St. Louis left-hander Donovon Osborne for his 30th home run of the season, a moment that this bobblehead replicates. The Hall of Fame shortstop finished the season with 33 home runs and 36 stolen bases.

The Barry Larkin bobblehead, presented by Dinsmore, is free with regular-price paid admission to the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum (or a Great American Ball Park Tour) beginning Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. and will be available Saturdays and Sundays through June, while supplies last. There is a limit of one bobblehead per visitor per day.

The 2024 Collectible Gift Series runs through September and features a memorable Reds home run hitter each month:

  •  May: George Foster – Franchise record-setting 52-home run season
  •  June: Barry Larkin – MLB’s first 30/30 shortstop
  •  July: Jay Bruce – 2010 Division clinching home run
  •  August: Todd Frazier – 2015 Home Run Derby champion
  •  September: Johnny Bench – 1972 NLCS home run

The five players in the 2024 collectible series are showcased in the museum’s 2024 feature exhibit: The Long Ball: A Home Run History of the Reds presented by Dinsmore.
