PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES:

*Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo had several reasons why he selected Cincinnati Reds skipper David Bell to join his All-Star Game staff this summer, and that was to honor the late Mike Bell, David’s younger brother.

*Mike was in charge of the Diamondbacks player development for nine years (2011-19) while spending 13 years in the organization. He passed away at just 46 years old in 20219. after a battle with kidney cancer

*Mike helped develop a majority of the players on the current D’Backs roster.

* The former Columbus Clippers infielder, who played on back-to-back IL Governors Cup Championship Teams in 1991 and 1992, in the Yankees organization, said his ties to the Bell family so real deep.

*The Bells’ father, Buddy, was a coach and mentor to Lovullo in Cleveland Indians system.

*Torey and David played together on the 1995 Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, who at the time were a part of the Indians organization before Bell started a 12-year MLB career with Cleveland twice, St. Louis, Seattle, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Milwaukee.
