OMAHA, Neb. (May 15, 2024) – No. 2 seed Omaha pulled off pulled off its first reverse sweep in franchise history with a 20-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-8, 15-11 five-set win over San Diego in the second semifinal of the Pro Volleyball Federation Championship.
The win sets up a match between Omaha and No. 4 seed Grand Rapids in the Match For A Million Final on Saturday at CHI Health Center in Omaha.
Stephanie Samedy matched the league record for most kills in a match with 30 kills on 61 swings with only five errors for a .410 hitting percentage. It also marks a Supernovas’ franchise record for kills in a match (Bethania De La Cruz, 26). Brooke Nuneviller reached double-digit kills for the first time in four matches with 15 and a match-high 20 digs for her highest total since March 28.
Temi Thomas-Ailara led the scoring effort for the Mojo, collecting 15 points on 11 kills, three blocks and one service ace. Lindsey Vander Weide posted a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs, while Nootsara Tomkom registered a double-double as well, dishing out 39 assists with 18 digs.
San Diego opened the season with a 1-5 record and at the bottom of the league standings, then won 12 of their last 18 matches overall to climb to third place and earn a spot in the PVF Championship.
