The Seattle Kraken announced Monday that Dave Hakstol has been relieved of his head coaching duties, along with assistant coach Paul McFarland

Hakstol, who led the Kraken into the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, finishes his Kraken tenure with a record of 107-112-27 in the first three seasons of franchise history, plus a 7-7 mark in the playoffs. His records break down in order, 27-49-6, 60 points, 46-28-8, 100 points and 34-35-13, 81 points.

Kraken general manager Ron Francis told the media on Monday why he made the decision.

“Too many losing streaks and losing streaks of significant numbers. It just felt it was time to try a new voice.”

Francis also said that he used the full 10 days to make his evaluation about the coaching staff.

There is no timetable for a replacement to be named. Probably not until the Stanley Cup Playoffs have concluded.
