Four rounds of #NHLStats as the Islanders pursue their fifth Stanley Cup in franchise history and first since 1983.

* The Islanders have qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons. They advanced past the opening round in three of the four previous appearances over that span, including being among the final four teams standing twice (2020 & 2021).

Brock Nelson has 25 career playoff goals and has at least shared the team lead in goals in each of its past four playoff appearances. He needs three goals to tie Butch Goring and John Tonelli (28 each) for seventh place on the franchise’s all-time playoff list. Nelson, Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin are all set to make their eighth postseason appearance for New York which would rank among the most in club history.

Mathew Barzal, the team’s leading scorer in 2023-24, paces all Islanders with 40 points over their four playoff appearances from 2019 to 2023. Aside from members of the club’s 1980s dynasty, only two players have as many career playoff points in an Islanders uniform as Barzal: Josh Bailey (16-34—50) and Nelson (25-21—46).

Patrick Roy, hired in January, looks to become the second individual in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup as both a goaltender and head coach – he would join Lester Patrick who was the Rangers’ head coach for 13 seasons and played in one NHL game as a goaltender, under emergency circumstances during the 1928 Stanley Cup Final. This is the first time New York has reached the playoffs following an in-season head coaching change.

* In 2023-24, Noah Dobson joined Denis Potvin (7x) and Jean Potvin as the third Islanders defenseman to post a 70-point season. He will next seek his first career Stanley Cup Playoffs goal – he tallied seven of his nine career postseason assists during the club’s run to the final four in 2021.

Lou Lamoriello can become the ninth GM in NHL history to win four Stanley Cups. Since 2018-19 when he joined the Islanders, they are one of six teams with at least six series wins, alongside Tampa Bay (11), Vegas (8), Carolina (7), Colorado (7) and Dallas (6).

Cal Clutterbuck is on the list of active players with 1,000-plus regular-season games who have yet to win a Cup.
