BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES
- The club concluded its four-game homestand tonight, winning three of the four games and improved to 6-3-1 in its past 10 home contests since the beginning of March.
- The Blue Jackets also improved to 7-9-2 in their last 18 games and 10-13-2 in the past 25 since Feb. 17 following tonight’s victory over the Flyers.
- CBJ improved to 11-7-2 in the series vs. Philadelphia since Mar. 15, 2018 with each team winning two games in the 2023-24 season series (CBJ, 2-2-0; PHI, 2-1-1).
- Columbus has now recorded points in eight of the past 12 games of the series since Jan. 20, 2022 (6-4-2).
- The Blue Jackets improved to 3-1-0 in the past four contests at Nationwide Arena in the series dating back to Nov. 10, 2022.
- CBJ killed off both of the Flyers’ power play opportunities tonight and have now killed off 28-of-31 Philadelphia power play chances in the past 11 games (90.3 pct.).
- The winning team in the series has recorded four-plus goals in nine of the last 10 contests and 17 of the past 20 in the series since Mar. 15, 2018.
- The teams have combined for 69-plus shots on goal in six of the last seven meetings of the series (CBJ- 33, PHI-39).
- CBJ blueliners recorded 6-2-8 tonight, setting club records for defensemen in most goals (six) and most different blueliners (four) to record a goal in a single game tonight. The Blue Jackets also tied the NHL record for most goals by team blueliners in a single game set by the Washington Capitals on Dec. 4, 1992 vs. the New York Rangers (four different blueliners). The club’s defensemen have now recorded 11-16-27 in the last nine contests and 37-139-176 in 77 games this season.
- CBJ rookies posted 0-4-4 tonight and have now combined for 31-42-73 in 77 contests in 2023-24.
- Columbus scored two first period goals tonight and has now scored at least one first period goal in seven of the last nine games (10 total) and 75 first period goals this season.
- The Jackets scored the first goal of the game tonight and have now scored the first goal of the game in 10 of the last 12 games and 43 times total in 2023-24, tying the 2000-01 campaign for fourth-most in a single season in franchise history.
- The Blue Jackets recorded 33 shots on goal tonight and have now posted 841 shots on goal over the last 27 contests since Feb. 10 (31.3).
- The club plays its 13th and final back-to-back set of the season on Saturday vs. the Flyers and Sunday at the Hurricanes.
- Tonight’s attendance was a sellout crowd of 18,323.
BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES
- D Zach Werenski notched his second multi-goal and 11th multi-point effort of the campaign with 2-1-3 and has now collected points in eight of his past 12 games (5-9-14) and 12 of the last 19 contests (5-14-19). With 9-43-52 in 65 games this season, he is one assist shy of tying James Wisniewski (44 in 2013-14) for the most assists by a defenseman in a single season in franchise history and ranks second in most points by a defenseman in a single season in club history, trailing only Seth Jones (57 in 2013-14). He also improved to 5-9-14 in 21 career outings against Philadelphia, including 3-2-5 in his past three games at Nationwide Arena.
- D Damon Severson notched his fourth career multi-goal game and second of the season (also 2-0-2 on Nov. 16, 2023 vs. Arizona) with two goals, giving him points in three of the past five games (2-2-4) and in six of the last 11 outings (3-4-7; overall, 9-17-26 in 62 GP).
- RW Johnny Gaudreau registered his team-leading 12th multi-assist and 14th multi-point effort of the campaign with two assists and has now recorded assists in each of his last three games played (0-4-4) and has now picked up assists in eight of his past 11 appearances (1-12-13) and points in 19 of his last 29 games (4-25-29; overall 11-47-58 in 76 GP). The forward is one assist shy from 500 for his NHL career (242-499-741 in 758 GP). He also improved to 6-18-24 in 21 career contests vs. the Flyers, recording 3-7-10 in his last seven home outings.
- LW Alexandre Texier recorded an assist to extend his assists streak to three-straight games (0-3-3) and now has points in four of the past five outings (0-4-4; overall, 11-18-29 in 73 GP).
- F Dmitri Voronkov registered an assist to stretch his points streak to three consecutive outings (1-2-3) and has posted 11-3-14 in his past 35 contests since Jan. 15 (overall, 18-16-34 in 71 GP).
- D Erik Gudbranson scored a goal to give him 1-2-3 in the past three contests and with 6-17-23 in 73 games he has tied his single-season career high in goals (Calgary 2021-22).
- LW Alex Nylander tallied an assist, giving him 2-1-3 in the past three outings and 10-4-14 in his first 19 games with the club.
- LW James Malatesta notched his first career NHL point with an assist in his sixth appearance with the club.
- LW Mikael Pyyhtia recorded his second career NHL assist (Apr. 13, 2023 vs. Pittsburgh) and first of the season in his 12th appearance with the team in 2023-24.
- D Nick Blankenburg scored his first goal of the season in his seventh appearance with the club.
- D David Jiricek registered an assist to give him 1-9-10 in 38 games this season.
- RW Justin Danforth recorded an assist and has now collected 10-12-22 in 66 outings this season.
- RW Carson Meyer tallied an assist to give him 1-1-2 in 13 appearances in 2023-24.
