The Cleveland Guardians today announced a pair of additions to the club’s 40-man roster, acquiring RHP Zak Kent from the Texas Rangers (for $250,000 in International Bonus Pool money) and RHP Peter Strzelecki from the Arizona Diamondbacks (for cash considerations).

Kent, 26, owns a four-year professional record of 9-12 with a 4.07 ERA in 68 games/59 starts (258.2IP, 239H, 117ER, 87BB, 288SO, 10.0SO/9IP) since debuting in 2019 following his ninth round MLB Draft selection by Texas out of VMI. He was limited to 40.2 innings last season due to a left oblique strain that delayed his season until July, posting a 3.97 ERA in 10 starts at AAA Round Rock (34.0IP, 26H, 15ER, 10BB, 34SO).

Strzelecki, 29, split last season between the Arizona and Milwaukee organizations, appearing in a combined 37 Major League games between the two stops. He was originally signed by the Brewers in 2018 as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of South Florida, debuting with Milwaukee in June of 2022. He went on to post a 2.83 ERA in 30 games for the Brewers in 2022 and was acquired by Arizona at last year’s trade deadline for LHP Andrew Chafin. He was designated for assignment by the D-Backs on March 25.

Both have been optioned to the AAA Columbus roster. The roster is currently at 40 players in advance of today’s Opening Day roster announcement.
