COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s basketball program has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2024 National Invitation Tournament. The No. 2 seed Buckeyes will face No. 7 Cornell Tuesday in Columbus. The game will tip at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
The Buckeyes are playing in the NIT for the 10th time. Ohio State is 19-8 all-time in the event with a pair of championships (1986, 2008). The Buckeyes are 11-3 at home in the NIT, 3-2 on the road and 5-3 in neutral court competition.
Ohio State is 5-3 all-time vs. Cornell. The teams have not met since Jan. 24, 1969, when the Buckeyes won 96-78 in Cleveland. Ohio State is 34-18 all-time vs. teams representing the Ivy League.
The last time the Buckeyes were in the NIT was in 2016. They hosted Akron in the opening round and won 72-63 in overtime before falling 74-66 in the second round against Florida.
