COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Columbus Fury have acquired two-time All-American and two-time ACC Setter of the Year, Tori Stringer from the Atlanta Vibe via trade. Stringer is one of the original spokeswomen for the Pro Volleyball Federation and remains one of the faces of league. She helped lead Louisville to their first Final Four appearance in 2021 and was a member of the US Women’s Collegiate National Team in 2019 and 2021. She has international experience with Team USA, making her National Team debut at the Pan Am Cup in 2022 where the team won a bronze medal.
Stringer is the daughter of Trent and Cassandra Dilfer. Trent Dilfer was a 14-year NFL veteran and a Super Bowl XXXV Champion with the Baltimore Ravens for the 2000 season, he is currently the head coach of the University of Alabama at Birmingham football team.
Stringer will reunite with head coach Ángel Pérez who she played for in 2022 on Las Pinkin de Corozal in Puerto Rico. While playing in the Puerto Rican League for Coach Pérez, Stringer was named the league’s best setter in the 2022-23 season.
“I think the addition of Tori gives us another elite level player, it’s another piece to add in our puzzle,” explained head coach Ángel Pérez. “We are trying to build the best team possible to try and win a championship, now with Ray and Tori we feel comfortable that our setting position is covered at any given moment. Toriagain, high-quality setter, an experienced setter, a proven winner, and again a great addition to our team.”
As a result of the trade and adding Stringer to the active roster, the Fury have waived setter Gabby Blossom. The Fury sent its 2025 and 2026 first round picks to Atlanta.
