Musketeers are shooting to even their BIG EAST record at 9-9.

 

CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 14-14 overall and 8-9 in the BIG EAST Conference, visit the Georgetown University Hoyas, 9-19 overall and 2-15 in the BIG EAST, on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Xavier, coming off a 91-58 win over DePaul on Feb. 28, will be trying to even their league record at 9-9.

Xavier’s game at Georgetown is the first of two-straight road games. XU plays at Butler next Wednesday, March 6, before closing the regular season vs. Marquette on Saturday, March 9 at Cintas Center.

• Xavier graduate student Quincy Olivari, who leads the BIG EAST in scoring at 19.4 ppg., passed the 2,000-point mark for his collegiate career during his 32-point game vs. DePaul on Wednesday. He has 2,030 points including his totals at Rice and Xavier.
• Xavier’s Quincy Olivari leads the BIG EAST and is 16th in the nation in 3-point field goals at 3.2 made per game and is second in the BIG EAST and sixth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at .436.
• Xavier senior Dayvion McKnight is first in the BIG EAST and 10th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.38. He leads the team and is fourth in the BIG EAST in assists at 5.1 apg. and leads the team and is eighth in the league in steals at 1.5 spg. McKnight, who has averaged 15.5 ppg. for the last 12 games, is third on the team in scoring at 12.1 ppg.
• Xavier sophomore Desmond Claude is second on the team in scoring at 15.3 ppg. (11th in the BIG EAST) and assists at 3.3 apg. (14th in the BIG EAST).
• Xavier senior Abou Ousmane, who had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds vs. Providence on Feb. 21, is fifth in the BIG EAST in offensive rebounding (2.9 rpg.) and is sixth in blocks (1.3 bpg.).
• Xavier has 10 newcomers on the 2023-24 roster, including six freshmen who have logged 30.0 percent of the minutes played this season, the most for XU since 1995-96.
Kachi Nzeh, who started vs. DePaul on Wednesday, became the fourth different Xavier freshman to start at least one game this season.
• Xavier snapped a four-game losing streak with the win over DePaul on Wednesday.
• Xavier has played the nation’s ninth-toughest schedule per the latest KenPom rankings.
