No. 2/2 Ohio State Wraps Up Regular Season Home Slate Wednesday Against Michigan Wolverines

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2/2 Ohio State women’s basketball team (24-3, 15-1 B1G) hosts Michigan (17-11, 8-8 B1G) on Wednesday for the Buckeyes’ final home game of the regular season. The game will be broadcast on Peacock and AM1460 with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Buckeyes will be celebrating Black History Month. There will be a saxophone performer on the concourse and Ohio State will be honoring its championship women’s hockey team at halftime. The first 2,000 fans will receive a free Dub Chain T-shirt.

  • Ohio State earned a 79-66 win against Maryland on senior day to improve to 15-1 in Big Ten play and clinch the top seed in the Big Ten Tournament as well as a share of the regular season title, the 16th in program history.
  • All five Buckeye starters scored in double figures, led by Celeste Taylor’s 20. Jacy Sheldon (17), Cotie McMahon (15), Rebeka Mikulášiková (11) and Taylor Thierry (10) rounded out OSU’s double-figure scorers.
  • Celeste Taylor was named ESPN Player of the Week and to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
  • Michigan enters the game with a 17-11 overall record and an even 8-8 record in Big Ten play, most recently beating Northwestern 74-60 on the road.
  • The Wolverines have not won, nor lost more than two-consecutive games in conference play this season. Michigan holds wins against Illinois, then No. 17 Ohio State, Wisconsin, Rutgers (twice), Maryland, Penn State and Northwestern and has lost to No. 14 Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska (twice), Michigan State (twice), Illinois and then No. 4 Iowa.
  • Laila Phelia and Lauren Hansen lead the Wolverines’ offense with 16.2 and 11.8 points per game, respectively. There are six different Michigan players averaging at least 3.0 rebounds per game as the Wolverines’ rebounding margin is +5.6 on the season. Michigan’s defense is holding opponents to 63.2 points per game.
  • Ohio State leads 59-17 in the all-time series against Michigan and is 31-6 when facing the Wolverines in Columbus.
  • This is the second time this season that Ohio State will face Michigan, previously losing to the Wolverines in Ann Arbor on Dec. 30 by a 69-60 margin.
  • Celeste Taylor led the Buckeyes’ offense with 16 points and four assists. Taylor Thierry nearly had a double-double, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-7 (.714) shooting and nine rebounds. Rikki Harris rounded out OSU’s double-figure scorers with 10 points.
