INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — Wright State forward Brandon Noel has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the League office announced on Monday.

Noel turned in a pair of dominate games this week, including a 19-point, 16-rebound double-double in Wright State’s big win over Oakland as the Raiders won a pair of road games. Noel opened the week just missing a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds at Detroit Mercy while shooting 67 percent in the win before the double-double effort on Sunday at Oakland. Noel pulled down 11 of his 16 rebounds on the defensive glass against Oakland on the way to his seventh double-double of the season – and sixth in Horizon League play. He finished the week shooting 58 percent overall with a trio of three-pointers and was a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw stripe with the 25 total rebounds. Noel averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds in the two wins and added four blocks, two assists and a steal to his final stat line for the week.

Noel now has 23 double-digit scoring games this season, including in each of the last eight games and has double figures scoring in 16 of 18 Horizon League games to date while shooting 54.5 percent overall on the year, third in the Horizon behind a pair of Raider teammates.

Wright State returns home to the Nutter Center for the final two regular season contests of the year, beginning with a Wednesday night matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne before a Saturday meeting with Northern Kentucky. Both games will be 7 p.m. starts, and Saturday will be Senior Night with pregame ceremonies before the game.
