INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – The Horizon League released its 2023-24 Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, as Wright State redshirt-sophomore Brandon Noel was among the student-athletes honored in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives for the second straight season.

A chemistry major,

Noel has appeared and started in 28 games, averaging 14.7 points per game, the third-most on the roster, and a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per contest. He has seven double-doubles this season, including six against Horizon League opponents, and has double digit scoring outputs in 24 of 28 games with six games with 20-plus points.

The 2023 HL Winter Scholar-Athlete of the Season in addition to his spot on the 2022-23 Horizon League Men’s Basketball all-academic team, Noel’s work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean’s List and he has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester he has been eligible (Fall 2021-Fall 2023).

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team’s overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
