Wright State used a big scoring stretch early in the second half as the Raiders pulled away from Detroit Mercy 93-78 on Thursday behind five players in double figures scoring. Trey Calvin finished with a game-high 25 points while Brandon Noel finished a rebound shy of his sixth double-double, tallying 22 points with nine rebounds. Tanner Holden added 15 points, Alex Huibregtse had 13 points and Logan Woods notched a career-high 11 points off the bench

Thanks to Trey Calvin & Tanner Holden, Wright State is the only team in America with two players with 2,000-plus career points. Purdue (Zach Edey, Lance Jones) is the only other team with multiple players with 1,800-plus points.

MR. 2000 (x2)
Tanner Holden reached the 2,000-point milestone with the game’s opening bucket on Feb. 17 against Robert Morris, while Trey Calvin reached the 2,000-point milestone with a pullup jumper on Feb. 8 against Detroit Mercy. The pair join Bill Edwards (1990-93, 2,303 career points) as the only Raiders to reach the mark. Calvin became the 15th player to reach 2,000 points in Horizon League history and is the first Wright State player in the HL’s 2,000-point club. Holden is currently 71 points shy of 2,000 points in a Raider uniform.

Wright State and Oakland have met 30 times, with the Raiders leading the series 19-11. The teams first met back on Nov. 29, 1977 – a Raider victory – and the teams also met in Jan. 1979 and Dec. 1979 but then didn’t face each other again until Dec. 2000. Wright State also handed Oakland a loss in the Golden Grizzlies’ first-ever Horizon League contest, played Jan. 2, 2014 inside the Nutter Center.

-Oakland is 19-10 overall and has won four in a row while holding an 8-2 mark at home this season.
-Trey Townsend leads four Oakland players who are averaging double digits scoring with his 16.7 points/game mark, while Townsend’s 7.4 rebounds/game also is tops on the roster.

Wright State currently leads the nation with its 53.3 percent overall season shooting percentage. The Raiders’ Effective FG Percentage (58.8 percent) is No. 2 and the Scoring Offense (85.8) is No. 5. Individually, Trey Calvin is No. 13 nationally with 192 FG made, while No. 29 nationally with 20.0 points/game average and is No. 24 with his 89.4 percent Free Throw Percentage. Calvin’s 540 total points are No. 24, while Tanner Holden (48 total points) is No. 112. Holden’s 164 FG made is No. 82 nationally.

Wright State connected on 11 three-pointers in the Feb. 22 road win at Detroit Mercy, just the third time the Raiders have hit double-digit three-pointers this season and one shy of the season-high mark of 12 hit at Robert Morris on Jan. 10. Interestingly enough, the Raiders also had 11 threes at Indiana on Nov. 16, as all three double-digit games have come on the road.
