Ohio Bobcats News: Jaylin Hunter Named MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio men’s basketball senior guard Jaylin Hunter was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week for his performance the week of Jan. 29, the league announced today (Feb. 7).

Hunter, a specialized studies major with a 3.27 GPA, helped lead the Ohio men’s basketball team to a 2-0 week this past week. Overall, Hunter averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game, while dishing out an average of 7.0 assists and grabbing 3.0 steals a game. He also shot 52.2 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three and was 2-of-2 from the line.

Against Buffalo, Hunter scored 10 points, going 4-of-9 from the field, while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out six assists and recording four steals in the 91-70 victory. Hunter was back in action in Ohio’s thrilling 78-69 victory over Miami in the Battle of the Bricks, leading all scorers with 22 points, while going 8-of-14 from the field, 4-of-9 from three and grabbing three rebounds and dishing out eight assists in the win.

Hunter and the Bobcats are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10 when they head to Jonesboro, Ark. to take on Arkansas State in the secound round of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Tip-off is set for. 3 p.m. EST and can be seen on ESPN+.
