INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — Wright State guard Trey Calvin has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the League office announced on Monday.

Calvin turned in a pair of 27-point performances as he helped lead Wright State to a pair of road wins last week as the Raiders closed January with a 6-2 overall record for the month with a 4-1 mark on the road. Calvin’s four-point play just over a minute into overtime on Thursday night gave the Raiders the lead they would not surrender and Wright State finished off the road win to snap Cleveland State’s 18-game home winning streak. He finished with huge second halves in both games, tallying just 13 of his 54 points for the week in the first 20 minutes of each contest while ending the two wins with a 60 percent shooting mark from the floor and was 18-of-21 from the free throw stripe, including a perfect 10-of-10 mark at Cleveland State with eight free throws in the second half and overtime. Calvin rounded out his weekly stat line with 12 assists, three rebounds, a block and a steal in 78 minutes of action.

Calvin has now scored in double digits in every game in 2023-24 and in 24 straight contests going back to last season, with this week’s performances his ninth and tenth games with 20-plus points this season, half of which have come in Horizon League action.

Wright State plays six of its final nine games at home to close the regular season, beginning Thursday night with a nationally televised 9 p.m. tipoff against Youngstown State inside the Nutter Center on ESPNU.
