Buckeyes and Badgers meet for the first time this season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8/7 Ohio State women’s basketball team (17-3, 8-1 B1G) hosts Wisconsin (10-9, 3-6 B1G) on Thursday for a 6 p.m. ET tip-off. The game will be broadcast on BTN and AM1460.
This is the pink game as the Buckeyes will be recognizing breast cancer fighters, survivors and those who stand with a loved one who is battling or has battled breast cancer at halftime. There will be free pink poms at the NE & NW entrances for the first 5,000 fans and a student giveaway for the first 200 Ohio State students. This is also red coat appreciation day.
- Ohio State holds a 17-3 record this season and is 8-1 in conference play after a 71-68 win at Purdue on Sunday. The Boilermakers led for only 16 seconds of the game in the third quarter and got as close as two points in the fourth.
- Cotie McMahon earned her third-consecutive double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and also tallied a career-high eight assists. Rebeka Mikulášiková (15) and Taylor Thierry (14) also scored in double figures. All nine Buckeye players who saw the floor also scored.
- Sheldon surpassed 1,800 career points and Mikulášiková surpassed 1,100 career points on Sunday.
- Wisconsin enters the game with a 10-9 record and is 3-6 in Big Ten play after a 73-62 win against Rutgers on Saturday.
- The Badgers also beat Illinois and Minnesota in conference play. Wisconsin’s Big Ten losses are to Iowa (twice), Purdue, Nebraska, Northwestern and Michigan.
- Serah Williams leads Wisconsin on both sides of the ball with 17.9 points (third in the Big Ten) and 10.4 rebounds (second in the Big Ten) per game. Williams has recorded a double-double in six-consecutive games. Ronnie Porter is also averaging double figures (10.4 ppg).
- Ohio State leads 54-18 in the all-time series against Wisconsin and has the 27-5 advantage when playing the Badgers in Columbus. The teams have played only once each of the past four seasons and the Buckeyes have won the last two meetings.
- Last season, Ohio State won by a 90-67 margin in Madison. The Buckeyes outscored Wisconsin 29-14 in the first quarter and did not look back. OSU shot 32-of-58 (.552) from the floor and forced 21 Wisconsin turnovers. The Buckeyes’ scoring was led by the trio of Taylor Thierry (25), Taylor Mikesell (21) and Cotie McMahon (19).
