(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The results of the 80th Baseball Writers’ Association of America Hall of Fame election will be revealed at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 23, live from the Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery in Cooperstown.
MLB Network will air extensive coverage, interviews and analysis beginning at 2 p.m. ET, then televise the announcement live as Hall of Fame President Josh Rawitch delivers the results. The announcement will be simulcast on MLB.com and at facebook.com/baseballhall.
The 2024 BBWAA ballot features 26 players, including 12 new candidates and 14 returnees. Any candidate who receives votes on at least 75 percent of all ballots cast will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2024.
The 26 candidates (with the returnees in bold and their 2023 BBWAA election percentage in parentheses) include: Bobby Abreu (15.4%), José Bautista, Carlos Beltrán (46.5%), Adrián Beltré, Mark Buehrle (10.8%), Bartolo Colon, Adrián González, Todd Helton (72.2%), Matt Holliday, Torii Hunter (6.9%), Andruw Jones (58.1%), Victor Martinez, Joe Mauer, Andy Pettitte (17.0%), Brandon Phillips, Manny Ramírez (33.2%), Jose Reyes, Álex Rodríguez (35.7%), Francisco Rodríguez (10.8%), Jimmy Rollins (12.9%), Gary Sheffield (55.0%), James Shields, Chase Utley, Omar Vizquel (19.5%), Billy Wagner (68.1%) and David Wright.
Jim Leyland was elected by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee in December, and he will join any BBWAA electees at Induction Weekend, July 19-22 in Cooperstown.
