PHILADELPHIA – La Salle men’s basketball returns home for a matchup with nationally-ranked Dayton inside Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center on Tuesday. The Flyers, who enter the game at No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, will take on the Explorers beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Kale Beers, Rich Tarr, and Bron Holland will call the action on ESPN+ and an online radio broadcast via goexplorers.com. In addition, Explorers fans can follow the team on X @LaSalle_MBB and Instagram @lasallembb.

NEWS & NOTES

  • The Explorers are looking to snap a three-game losing skid, which was extended with an 82-62 loss at Saint Joseph’s on Jan. 15.
  • The Hawks jumped out to a 19-2 lead to start the game and never looked back, as La Salle could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way.
  • Following the game, the Explorers had a rare eight-day layoff between conference games after playing three contests in a short six-day window.
  • Junior Khalil Brantley had 16 points and a team-high five assists in the game, and is now just 42 points away from becoming the newest member of La Salle’s 1,000-point club.
  • Over the last three games, the offensive production has been limited for the Explorers as they are shooting just 37.4 percent overall and 26.3 percent from three-point range.
  • La Salle is one of the top teams in the country in turnovers committed, averaging 9.6 per game which ranks 17th nationally and second in the Atlantic 10 behind only Richmond (8.6).
  • The Explorers ranks first in the A-10 and 16th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio as a team at 1.59.
  • Individually, senior Jhamir Brickus is playing 36.2 minutes per game which stands in a tie for 10th among all NCAA Division I players.

SCOUTING DAYTON

  • The Flyers have vaulted up to No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 17 in the Coaches Poll this week, following a pair of home victories last week.
  • The most recent was a 96-62 triumph over Rhode Island on Saturday.
  • Daron Holmes II was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after scoring 21 points and adding six rebounds, three assists and three blocks against the Rams. Holmes added 29 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Saint Louis.
  • On the year, the 6-10 forward is averaging 19.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and nearly 44 percent from three-point range.
  • As a team, the Flyers are connecting on 40.8 percent of their three-point attempts this season, led by Koby Brea who is connecting on 49.5 percent of his attempts from deep.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The all-time series between Dayton and La Salle dates back all the way to 1952, with the Flyers owning a 31-19 record against the Explorers.
  • La Salle has won two of the last three matchups, including the last contest played at Gola Arena (W, 62-60; 2/26/22)
  • Khalil Brantley had 17 points off the bench for La Salle, while Holmes had 18 points and 12 boards in the game for Dayton.
