KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Ohio men’s basketball team (7-9, 1-3 MAC) returned to action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 13) in snowy Kalamazoo, falling to Western Michigan (7-9, 4-0 MAC), 81-79 inside University Arena.
Overall, Ohio shot 43 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and were 21-of-29 from the line, while WMU shot 47 percent from the field, 44 percent from three and were 21-of-29 from the line. The Broncos outrebounded the Bobcats 45-29 and dished out 16 assists to Ohio’s 11. The Bobcats also forced 13 WMU turnovers and scored 16 points off them.
Individually, junior forward AJ Clayton (Roseville, Ohio) led the way with 15 points, followed by graduate student guard Shereef Mitchell (Omaha, Neb.) with 13 points, four rebounds and two assists and sophomore forward Aidan Hadaway (Lafayette, Ga.) with 13 points and five rebounds. Fifth year guard Miles Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) added seven points and six rebounds, while senior center Gabe Wiznitzer (Walhalla, S.C.) scored nine points.
For WMU, four Broncos scored in double figures and were led by Seth Hubbard with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Up next, Ohio returns to Athens on Tuesday, Jan. 16 when the Bobcats host Centra Michigan. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+.
