COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home to host the only undefeated team in Big Ten play in the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN. Kevin Kugler and Robbie Hummel will call the action.

  • This will be the 173rd all-time meeting and the Buckeyes officially lead the series 91-75 and 55-26 in Columbus.
  • The recent series has been close. The teams have split the last 10 meetings 5-5 and over the last six meetings, the teams are tied 3-3 and each have scored exactly 419 points.
  • Last year, fittingly, the teams split a pair of games. Wisconsin survived a furious Ohio State comeback in a 65-60 victory in Columbus during the regular season. Then in the Big Ten Tournament, the Buckeyes got the last laugh with a 65-57 victory, limiting Wisconsin to just 34 percent shooting.
  • The Buckeyes are coming off a tough 71-65 setback at Indiana on Saturday evening. They shot just 28 percent in the second half, allowing the Hoosiers to erase a nine-point second half deficit. Jamison Battle made five three-pointers and finished with a team-high 17 points. Felix Okpara pulled-down a career-high 15 rebounds and also tied a career-high with five blocked shots.
  • Battle is leading the Big Ten in three-pointers made with 47 and in three-point percentage at 45.2. He has also made five or more three-pointers in each of the last four games. He is trying to become the first player in program history with five or more threes in five consecutive games.
  • Head coach Chris Holtmann is one win away from 250 in his career. He has 135 wins at Ohio State, which is the fifth-most by a Buckeye head coach.
  • Bruce Thornton continues to remain one of the most efficient point guards in the conference. He has 65 assists and just 14 turnovers this season for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.64. That ratio is fourth-best in the country. He is also leading the team in scoring at 16.9 ppg.
  • Freshman Scotty Middleton is coming off one of his better games of the season. He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor and finished with nine points. Not bad for a rookie in his first game at a sold-out Assembly Hall.
  • Wisconsin has won 10 of its last 11 games since starting the year 1-2. The lone loss in that stretch came at Arizona. The Badgers have Big Ten wins over Michigan State, Iowa and Nebraska has scored over 80 points in each of their last three games. AJ Storr leads the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game.
