DAYTON – The Wright State men’s basketball team opens a season-long three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders make the short trip to take on Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon. Saturday’s game will tip at 1 p.m. and fans can follow the action several ways – via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in to the new home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Justin Kinner will have all the play-by-play on the radio feed.

Wright State scored 13 of the first 15 points on Thursday night and never trailed as the Raiders grabbed an 82-70 home win over Cleveland State in front of a national television audience. Brandon Noel finished a rebound shy of a double-double, settling for a game-best 24 points, his second-highest scoring output of the season, on 10-of-12 shooting. Trey Calvin notched another 20-point night, his eighth contest with 20 or more points this season, as he recorded 15 of his 20 points in the second half. AJ Braun had an efficient night, going 8-of-9 from the floor on the way to 16 points, as he and Noel played a large role in the Raiders’ 48 paint points in the win.

The Raiders held Cleveland State to a 32.6 percent second half shooting mark on Jan. 4, with Cleveland State finishing the night shooting 38.9 percent overall (28-of-72) – the fourth time this season the Raiders have held opponents under 40 percent overall shooting.
FORT WAYNE FACTS
Purdue Fort Wayne enters Saturday at 13-2 overall with a 4-0 HL record. The Mastodons are coming off a home victory last Sunday to winless Detroit Mercy. Purdue Fort Wayne has made at least eight 3-pointers in 11-of-15 games and double digit treys in five games. Wright State leads the short series 11-5, with nine of the 13 matchups coming back during the 1980’s. The Raiders have won 10 of the last 13 in the series overall.

– Purdue Fort Wayne is 8-0 at home to date, a mark that includes Horizon League wins over Green Bay (by four points), Northern Kentucky (by 13 points) and Detroit Mercy (by 35 points).

Wright State’s January 4 home win over Cleveland State was the Raiders’ fifth straight victory in their first game of the new calendar year. Wright State is 13-2 in the last 15 seasons in the first contest in January after the calendar flips, dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Wright State’s 52.9 overall season shooting percentage is No. 2 in the country, while the Raiders’ Effective FG Percentage (58.0 percent) is No. 11. The Scoring Offense (83.4) is No. 33. Individually, Trey Calvin in No. 24 nationally with 20.0 points per game scoring average and No. 8 with his 95.0 percent Free Throw Percentage (38-of-40). Calvin’s 107 Field Goals are No. 10 nationally, and his 280 total points are No. 21.

Trey Calvin officially became the all-time leader in games played in Wright State program history when he and the Raiders tipped off on Dec. 29 at Green Bay in Calvin’s 134th career game. Calvin will start his 100th career game on Saturday at Purdue Fort Wayne.
