COLUMBUS, Ohio – Big Ten play the rest of the way and Ohio State jumps back in by hosting Rutgers on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN. Cory Provus and Stephen Bardo will call the action.

  • The Buckeyes lead the all-time series 11-5 and are undefeated against the Scarlet Knights at home, winning all seven meetings at Value City Arena.
  • Last season, the teams split the two meetings with each team winning on its home court. Tanner Holden made a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Rutgers 67-66 at home on Dec. 8, in the Big Ten opener for both team. The Scarlet Knights then pulled-out a 68-64 overtime victory a month later in Piscataway.
  • The Buckeyes completed non-conference play last Saturday with a gritty 78-75 overtime victory over West Virginia at the Legends of Basketball Showcase in Cleveland. Roddy Gayle Jr. scored a career-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Jamison Battle made five three-pointers, all after halftime, and finished with 17 points. Bruce Thornton scored six of his 11 points in overtime and he also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
  • The win over West Virginia improved Ohio State to a perfect 4-0 in neutral site games this season.
  • Jamison Battle has taken and made more three-pointers (36) than anyone in the Big Ten this season. But what is impressive is he is also leading the Big Ten in three-point percentage at a career-best 42.4 percent. He is just seven three-pointers away from 300 in his career.
  • Roddy Gayle has made a team-high 68 field goals and is shooting 52.3 percent from the floor. That’s the second-best percentage among Big Ten guards this season.
  • Thornton has a 4.82 assist-to-turnover which is fifth-best in the country. He also leads the team at 16.9 points per game.
  • The Buckeye backcourt starters of Thornton, Gayle and Battle are averaging 46.4 points per game and have combined to make 78 three-pointers.
  • Rutgers enters the game at 8-4 and has won three of its last four games. The Scarlet Knights opened Big Ten play with a 76-58 setback at home to Illinois on Dec. 2. Aundre Hyatt leads the team in scoring at 12.3 per game while big man Clifford Omoruyi is Top 5 in the country with 41 blocks this season.
