The Cincinnati Reds re-signed right-handed reliever Buck Farmer on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Georgia native has been a key component in an improved bullpen during the 2023 season.

Farmer, who was a free agent after the 2023 season, signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal. However, he can earn an additional  $350,000 in performance bonuses, based on games pitched.

Farmer, a former Detroit Tiger,  appeared in 71 games with a record of 4-5 and a 4.20 ERA. He is a strikeout pitcher, getting 70 in 75 innings of work.

Throughout his career, Farmer has relied on three pitches: a 91–95 MPH four-seamer fastball that tops out at 97 MPH, a mid-80s MPH slider and a changeup.

To make room for Farmer, the Reds designated outfielder Bubba Thompson for assignment to open a roster spot on the 40-man roster.
