ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Cameron Tyson and Grand Canyon’s Duke Brennan have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 24.
Tyson, a redshirt senior guard, lit up the scoreboard for the Redhawks in a crucial 79-73 nonconference win over Louisiana Tech in overtime on Dec. 20. Tyson finished with a game-high 33 points, including a combined 21 points in the second half and overtime periods, to ice the win for Seattle U. Tyson made 4-of-9 3-pointers to become the program’s all-time leader in made 3s and added a perfect 13-for-13 showing at the free-throw line.
Brennan, a sophomore transfer forward, earned his second career double-double during a 76-64 GCU win against former conference foe Sam Houston on Dec. 20. Brennan connected on 8-of-10 field goal attempts as part of his 19 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and logged three steals for the Lopes in the victory.
