ATLANTA — Earning its sixth bowl berth in the last nine years, Georgia State will face Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 23 in Boise, Idaho.
The 27th Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Albertsons Stadium and will be nationally televised on ESPN.
Georgia State enters the postseason with a record of 6-6 overall, 3-5 in the Sun Belt Conference, while Utah State finished 6-6 overall, 4-4 in the Mountain West Conference. The two schools are meeting for the first time.
“This is an opportunity for our football team to finish this season the right way,” said head coach Shawn Elliott, who is taking his team to a bowl game for the fifth time in his seven seasons.
“We appreciate the chance to play one more game, and we’re looking forward to traveling to Boise, Idaho, and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl for what will be a really unique experience for our football team.
“I’m thrilled to death,” Elliott continued. “To be able to take our players to a part of the country they’ve never been to and experience things they’ve never experienced is exciting. That’s what these bowl games are about.”
