Oakland University Men’s Basketball News: 2023-24 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Pre-Season Poll; Golden Grizzlies picked 6th

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Tuesday, October 17th the Horizon League announced the 2023-24 #HLMBB Preseason poll and Preseason All-League Teams. 

Oakland was selected sixth out of 11 teams with a total of 280 points. Northern Kentucky was selected first with 435 points and 18 first-place votes while Milwaukee trailed in second with 397 points and 10 first-place votes. Additionally, Wright State tallied 12 first-place votes and 392 points to fall in third, and Cleveland State was the last team to receive a single first-place vote resulting in a fourth-place position with 362 points, respectively. 

Trey Townsend was the only Golden Grizzly named to the Preseason All-League First Team in a pool of five total selections across the Horizon League. The Oxford native is going into his fourth year at Oakland and averaged 36.2 minutes per game along with 16.5 points per game in the 2022-23 season as a key piece for the Golden Grizzlies.
