UCLA (7-5) has accepted an invitation to play in the Starco Brands LA Bowl hosted by Gronk against Boise State (8-5), the champion from the Mountain West Conference. This will be UCLA’s first appearance in the bowl which will be held in SoFi Stadium, home of the Rams and Chargers, in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 4:30 p.m. PT. The Starco Brands LA Bowl hosted by Gronk will be broadcast by ABC. The Bruins will be looking to halt a two-game MWC win streak in the game.
.
This is UCLA’s third-straight season to earn a bowl game invitation and its 39th overall bowl invitation. The Bruins ended the regular season with the nation’s No. 11-ranked defense which allowed 299.0 yards per game and the top-rated rushing defense (69.6 yards per game). UCLA was rated 21st in the nation in rushing offense (191.1 yards per game) and rushed for at least 200 yards in five games this season.
This will be just the second meeting between the Bruins and the Broncos on the gridiron. UCLA dealt Boise State a 38-7 decision in Rose Bowl Stadium in the 1999 season in the previous matchup.
The Bruins are 47-10-2 all-time against teams that currently make up the Mountain West Conference and last played a MWC team in game two of this season when it defeated San Diego State 35-10 on the road.
