Monroe, La. — University of Louisiana-Monroe Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced Sunday that he will seek new leadership for the Warhawks’ football program.

“After a thorough review, we have decided to make a change in the leadership of ULM football,” Hartwell said. “I want to thank Coach Terry Bowden for all he has done over the last three years for our football program and our university.”

Bowden was hired as the program’s 16th head coach on Dec. 23, 2020. In his three seasons as head coach the Warhawks went 4-8 twice and 2-10 in 2023. ULM went 5-19 in the Sun Belt Conference during those three seasons.
