Merrimack Warriors Men’s Basketball News: Men’s Basketball Selected Fourth in Northeast Conference Preseason Poll

NEWARK, N.J. – The Merrimack College men’s basketball team was selected as the fourth-place team in Tuesday’s media day festivities in New Jersey.

The media day was held at the Prudential Center with head coach Joe Gallo, sophomore guard Jordan Derkack and graduate student Jordan McKoy representing Merrimack in front of their peers from the other eight NEC institutions in attendance.

Sacred Heart University was selected first in the poll, receiving seven of the nine first-place votes. Central Connecticut State University and FDU both earned a first-place vote earning the second and third place spot. Wagner College would round out the top five. Stonehill College would place sixth, followed by Long Island University in seventh. The last two spots are occupied by Saint Francis University and newly added Northeast Conference member Le Moyne College.

The Warriors will open their season at the University of Vermont on November 6. Merrimack will play its first home game on that Thursday when Worcester State University visits North Andover.
